System Architecture Design
An independent review of what you run today, or a design for what you're about to build. Every major decision is written as an Architecture Decision Record your team can read, challenge and keep.
ExampleA C4 container view and a decision record: the two artefacts every review leaves behind.
Who is System Architecture Design for?
For systems that are slow, fragile, expensive, or about to be rebuilt.
Delayed decisions
Every decision waits for a number someone has to assemble by hand, so meetings end with “let's check”.
Operational chaos
Escalations, workarounds and “ask the one person who knows”. The real system lives in people's memory.
What do you get?
- C4 diagrams (context, containers, components) of the current and target system
- Architecture Decision Records, including the options we rejected and why
- Reliability, security, cost and scaling risks, ranked by impact
- A phased roadmap that keeps MVP, production and scale separate
How do you know it's done?
- Your engineers can explain the target architecture without us in the room
- Every recommendation states its cost and its trade-off
- Phase one is small enough to start next sprint
How does an engagement run?
- 01
Brief. A few minutes with our intake. Your context arrives before the call does.
- 02
Intro call. Thirty minutes. We ask the hard questions and tell you honestly whether we're the right fit.
- 03
Written scope. Scope, exclusions, milestones and a fixed price per phase, in writing, before any invoice.
- 04
Architecture. Diagrams and decision records you review and approve before the build starts.
- 05
Build. Working software on staging, demoed on a fixed cadence. You see progress, not status reports.
- 06
Handover. Code, infrastructure, docs and runbooks in your accounts. Ongoing support only if you want it.
How is it priced?
By scope. After the call you get a written scope with exclusions, milestones and a fixed price per phase. Payment follows accepted milestones. The budget range you pick in the brief isn't a quote; it helps us suggest a first phase that fits.
Which technologies do you use?
Our usual stack for System Architecture Design. We work with yours when you have one.
- AWS
- Docker
- ECS
- PostgreSQL
- Redis
- NestJS
System Architecture Design: questions and answers
What is an architecture review?
An independent look at the system you run today, or a design for what you're about to build. You get C4 diagrams, Architecture Decision Records, ranked risks and a phased roadmap.
What is an Architecture Decision Record (ADR)?
A short document that captures one decision: its context, the options rejected and its consequences. Your team can read it, challenge it and keep it.
Will you recommend microservices or Kubernetes?
Only if a real requirement needs them. Our default is the simplest architecture that meets the need, because complexity is expensive to add and hard to remove.
